Prof. (Dr.) Rabindra Nath Chakraborty is an eminent and highly qualified Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Electophysiologist in Kolkata. He is currently Professor and Director of Cardiology and Head, Apollo Gleneagles Heart Institutes, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata. Dr. Rabin Chakraborty has had a distinguished Academic career. After completing his MBBS from Calcutta University, he did his MD in Internal Medicine from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. He further added to his qualifications by obtaining a DNB in Medicine from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, and a DM in Cardiology from PGIMER, Chandigarh as well as a Post DM Fellowship in Cardiology from the same Institute. Dr. Chakraborty is also a Member and a Fellow of many prestigious International and National Colleges and Cardiology Societies, including the Royal College of Physicians, London, Ireland and Glasgow, and the American College of Cardiology, USA.

Dr. Chakraborty has worked at many esteemed Hospitals and Institutes in India and abroad, such as PGIMER, Chandigarh; Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Education and Research, Lucknow; Royal Hospital, Muscat; Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, UK, etc.

He has gained vast experience in the field of Interventional Cardiology and has performed innumerable Diagnostic Coronary Angiographies, Primary Angioplasty, PTCA with or without Stenting, Balloon Valvuloplasty, Balloon Atrial Septostomy, Percutaneous Laser Revascularisation (PTMR), Carotid and Peripheral Artery Intervention, Transcatheter Umbrella Closure Atrial Septal Defect as well as IVUS OCT and FFR studies in Angioplasty. He has also done Pacemaker Implantation, Defibrillator Implantation and other Electrophysiology procedures. He is also well versed in all Non-Invasive Cardiology techniques.

Dr. Chakraborty has performed some unique procedures such as Dual Chamber ICD Implantation with combo device in the year 2000 in Hyderabad and Rotational Coronary Angiography which was presented in the World Congress of Cardiology in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in April 1998 (a World First), among several other procedures. He has performed Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction first in England, then regularly at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, and at present in Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata.

Dr. Chakraborty keeps himself up-to-date with the latest developments in Interventional Cardiology by attending Medical Conferences all over the world, where he also presents papers and participates as Faculty. He also conducting workshops, delivers lectures, and teaches at various Colleges and Institutions both in India and abroad. He has also published many articles in well-known Medical Journals.

Dr. Rabin Chakraborty also does considerable Social Work by conducting free Health camps for children and adults through the Indian Medical Association, Rotary Club and Lions Club, conducting regular Health Awareness programmes for common people through Television and Newspapers and performing Heart Operations and various Cardiac Intervention Procedures free of Cost at Government Institutions.
